Mango and avocado are a match made in tasty heaven.

a plate of saladl

Salads are on the minds of many of us, particularly during the dog days of summer when the temperatures and humidity are high and the moments of daylight linger long into the warm evening air.  This mango and avocado salad is cool, fresh, and delicious.  It’s also as simple as can be and as such, not a bad combination for any season.

With this little side,  the two super fruits of mango and avocado team up to do what they do best; provide some awesome nutrition with a complimentary flavor and texture.  As an added bonus for your table setting, the color of this salad is replete of all things summer.  Bright, yellow sunshine from the mango and the lush green of summer from the creamy avocado help make this a summer salad come onto its own.

With minimal ingredients and maximum flavor and visual flare, you can put this together for guests or just yourself – it’s a winner for either platform.  Add some color to your fireworks and try this salad, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on this one.  -Dan

Prep: 5 minutes
Total: 5 minutes
Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and diced into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 1 ripe avocado, peeled and diced into 1/2 inch cubes
  • 1/2 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • juice from 1 small lime

Instructions

  • Use small mixing bowl and combine all ingredients.
  • Gently fold ingredients together using soft rubber spatula.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

Garnish with fresh cilantro, consider chopping some and adding to the mix.
A dash of balsamic vinegar can be added for a slight bend on the flavor profile. Note that this will blunt some of the vibrancy of this salad's appearance. As always, use a quality aged balsamic vinegar.

  1. I love the idea of combining Avocados and Mangoes in salad! I used to live in South Florida and we had our own mango tree and I used mangoes in everything! I am so thrilled to be moving back to our home and this recipe will come in handy! This salad looks to die for! Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thanks, Heidy! This one is all about the tropics, perfect for south Florida or even Wisconsin in the summer 🙂

  2. I love the simplicity of this salad. Yes, mangos and avocados go quite well together! I’ve made a chicken salad once with both and it was delicious!

    1. Chicken would make this a trifecta! Thanks so much for the comments, we appreciate hearing from you!
