Apple Buckle

Try this easy dessert recipe made with cake batter, apples, and a sweet crumb streusel for a heavenly treat!



Crumb Streusel  All purpose flour Dark brown sugar Ground cinnamon Lemon zest Unsalted butter Salt Walnuts


Buckle Batter All-purpose flour Baking powder Ground ginger Salt Unsalted butter Sugar Honey Lemon zest Pure vanilla extract Eggs Half and half Apples

Preheat over to 350F. Start by combining the dry ingredients for the crumb streusel and pulse in the food processor along with the lemon zest. 

Let's Make This!

For the buckle batter, whisk together the flour, baking powder, ginger, and salt.

Using a different mixing bowl, cream the butter with an electric mixer.

Add the sugar to the mixing bowl and beat it with the butter.

Then add the honey mixing bowl as well. 

Next, beat in the lemon zest, eggs, and vanilla, until smooth.

Fold in the dry ingredients, along with the half and half, alternating in two batches.

Fold in the apples.

Transfer the batter in a pan and smooth it over with a spatula 

Sprinkle on top the crumb topping. and then bake for an hour and 15 minutes. Allow it to rest for an hour in the pan before removing it.  Finally, feel free your favorite topping and serve!
