Mulled red wine sangria is winter’s answer to our favorite summer drink, our very own red wine sangria recipe.
It features similar tones of red wine and citrus, only it is complimented with some warmth, both in temperature and spices.
Mulled wine is a wine that is heated and infused with spices. It typically is red wine and different regions of the world have different versions of mulled red wine.
What’s in this Mulled Red Wine Sangria
- Red wine
- Orange juice
- Honey
- Star Anise
- Cinnamon
- Cloves
- Brandy
The beautiful thing about this mulled red wine recipe is that you can add whatever sounds good to you. If you don’t have brandy on hand, skip it!
No whole cloves in your spice rack? Try a pinch of ground cloves or maybe some nutmeg.
You can put this together in just 10 minutes, or make it in a slow cooker and have a party in a crock pot!

Mulled Red Wine Sangria
Ingredients
- 750 ml Red Wine
- 1/2 cup Orange Juice
- 1/2 cup Brandy
- 2 tbsp Honey
- 8 Whole Cloves
- 1 Orange, Sliced into rounds
- 8 Star Anise
- 4 Cinnamon Sticks
Instructions
- Using a large saucepan over, combine the wine, orange juice, brandy, and honey. Add the cloves and star anise and cinnamon sticks. Bring to a simmer, not a boil, over medium heat and then reduce heat to medium-low. Gently simmer over low temperature for 10 minutes.
- Serve while warm and garnish with orange slices and additional cinnamon sticks and star anise, if desired.
