About this Air Fryer Halibut Recipe

This fast and delicious halibut recipe is one of our favorite things to make in an air fryer. Like our easy rockfish recipe, our scallops in the air fryer, and our easy air fryer sockeye salmon, this delicious fish recipe can be prepped and ready to eat in 15 minutes or less.

What is Halibut?

Halibut comes from the cold, deep waters of the North Pacific and North Atlantic Oceans. The most common variety, Pacific halibut, is primarily found along the coasts of Alaska, Canada, and the Pacific Northwest.

You’ll find halibut on the menu of fine dining restaurants, but you can make it at home for a fraction of the price.

You can find it in the seafood case of many grocery stores, but I like to buy my halibut from Wild Alaskan Company. Their wild-caught seafood is fresh-frozen and shipped to your front door. It’s some of the best seafood you can get without catching it yourself!

How to Make Halibut in an Air Fryer

(See the recipe card below for the full recipe with instructions.)

This air fryer halibut has just a few ingredients and is ready to eat in about 10 minutes. To make it, you slather a little mayo on the fish, then dredge it in breadcrumbs. I use pork panko because it is low in carbs and tastes great with seafood.

After the halibut is dredged, I like to season it with a pinch of kosher salt, spray it with some olive oil, and then air fry it for 9 minutes. This is actually my favorite way to make halibut because it is so fast and easy. You can also pan-sear it, like these butter-seared scallops, or bake it like this oven-baked white fish.

What Goes with Halibut?

You can pair this air fryer halibut recipe with many different side dishes, like most seafood.

Papaya salsa, garlic mashed potatoes, a simple green salad, and this oven-baked spinach go great with this easy way to make halibut.

Recipe Tips

  1. Use a paper towel to pat the fish dry before making it.
  2. Be sure to preheat the air fryer before.
  3. Allow the halibut to rest for a minute or two before serving it.
  4. I like my seafood served on a warm plate. Cold plates will cool this down, and nobody likes to eat cold fish!

Recipe Questions and Answers

Can I make this using frozen halibut?

Technically, yes, but I don’t recommend it. I have done this before, and it can cook unevenly, and it’s hard to know when it’s done. Making frozen fish in an air fryer is a great way to ruin it!

Is halibut good for you?

Yes, halibut is a nutritious fish that’s high in protein and low in fat.
